10 — QUESTIONS

Before You Book

How much per night?

From $50 per night, traditional Sri Lankan breakfast included. Stay three nights or more and Aji takes care of you. For full board — three home-cooked meals a day — just let him know when you book.

How far to Udawalawe?

About 45 minutes by car. Aji arranges the safari and the driver — most guests leave at dawn to catch the elephants and are back at the farm for a late breakfast.

What's for breakfast?

Traditional Sri Lankan home cooking — hoppers, dal, sambol, eggs, fresh fruit from the orchard, juice, tea. Coffee and toast if you'd rather start lighter. Breakfast is included with every stay.

Are pets welcome?

Yes. Aji has dogs of his own — pets are family here. Let him know in advance so he can prep your cottage.

How do I get from Colombo airport?

About 4.5 hours by car. Aji arranges a private driver if you ask in advance — it's usually the calmest option after a long flight. Public buses run too, but require two transfers.

Is it cheaper to book direct?

Yes — message Aji on WhatsApp. Booking direct often saves you the platform fees, and it goes straight to his family rather than to an intermediary.

When's the best time to come?

The farm is open year-round. The dry seasons (December–March and July–September) are the most popular. Mango harvest peaks May–July — if you come then, expect baskets of fruit waiting on your veranda.
